One significant initiative undertaken by Valley Voices in May of 2023 was the development of flood maps and a StoryMap for the Tulare Lake region. This area has a history of flooding dating back to the early 1900s. In light of this and the ongoing climate crisis, Valley Voices recognized the significance of creating flood maps to tell the story of Tulare Lake. The flood maps serve as a valuable tool to empower the public with information and insights into flood-prone areas, potential risks, and community feedback.
In our StoryMap, users can report flood-related incidents, share their experiences, and submit suggestions for improving flood resilience in the region. By actively encouraging community participation, we aim to foster a sense of resilience and preparedness in the face of current and potential flooding events. We invite everyone to explore our Flood Map and engage with the information it offers.
